Cal has had a pair of offensive tackles enter the transfer portal as grad transfers in junior Everett Johnson and redshirt junior Brayden Rohme.

Starting with Johnson, he committed to Cal out of Turlock High School in Turlock, California as a 3-star recruit in the Bears’ 2020 class. He had a Rivals rating of 5.7, choosing Cal over Fresno State, Oregon State, San Jose State, Utah State, and Washington State. Per the team website, he played in 15 games including two starts during his Cal career.

As for Rohme, he committed to Cal out of Perry High School in Gilbert Arizona as a 3-star recruit in the Bears’ 2019 class. He had a Rivals rating of 5.6, choosing Cal over Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Iowa State, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Syracuse, UCF, Vanderbilt, Washington State, Yale, and a couple other schools. Per the team website, he played in 36 games during his Cal career including 15 starts. 12 of those starts coming at left tackle and three at right tackle.

With both of these guys moving on, Cal will need to restock at offensive tackle. It’ll be interesting to see if Cal will be able to find any replacements in the portal and then in general, what kind of moves they make now that offensive line coach Mike Bloesch has been elevated to offensive coordinator with Jake Spavital moving on to Baylor.
