Former Georgetown guard Primo Spears has committed to play at Florida State next season. Spears has two seasons of eligibility remaining. This is his second transfer, so he will need a waiver to compete in the 2023-24 season.

Spears picked the Seminoles and coach Leonard Hamilton over offers from the likes of Arkansas, TCU, Kansas and others. He visited FSU right after his Kansas visit ended.

A two-sport standout at Windsor High School (CT) in basketball and football, Spears signed with Duquesne and started in a team-high 28 of the 32 games he appeared in during his freshman season while averaging 12.7 points, 3.0 assists and 2.2 rebounds. He was just the fifth freshman in program history to lead the Dukes in scoring. After the season he entered the portal and transferred to Georgetown. Spears started all 32 games for the Hoyas leading the team with 16.0 points and 5.3 assists, to go along with 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

When Georgetown fired head coach Patrick Ewing after the season, Spears re-entered the transfer portal.

Spears joins La Salle guard Josh Nickelberry and VCU transfer forward Jamir Watkins as transfers into the Seminoles program.
