On Tuesday, Nebraska wide receiver Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda announced that he had officially entered his name into the transfer portal.

He is the first Cornhusker player to enter the portal this season.

Garcia-Castaneda was one of the more sought-after wide receiver transfers on the market this past offseason, after hauling in 37 catches for 578 yards and four touchdowns during during the 2021 season with New Mexico State. He picked up offers from Arizona, Utah, and Iowa State before committing to Nebraska in December.

Injuries kept the 6-foot, 185-pound talent our of spring ball for the Cornhuskers, but he made a splash in Nebraska's season-opener against Northwestern in Ireland, hauling in five catches for 120 yards and one touchdown.

Since that season debut, Garcia-Castaneda has seen his production decrease significantly, catching just one pass for zero yards in the three games versus North Dakota, Georgia Southern, and Oklahoma.

Garcia-Castaneda will redshirt this season and have two years of eligibility remaining at his next college destination.
