"I want to start by thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Him, I could not have made It this far In my football journey. To my family, thank you for all your unconditional love and support. I also would like to thank the Michigan State coaches and the awesome fanbase for giving me an opportunity to play for the green and white. Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates for having my back and being my brothers for the past two years.

With that being said, I would like to announce that I Intend to enter the transfer portal with three years of eligibility left. Thank you to everyone for their support and understanding of my decision."

The redshirt freshman took over the starting quarterback job for the Spartans halfway through this season. Houser appeared in 11 games this year. He was 112 of 191 for 1,132 yards and six touchdowns and five interceptions. Back in October, then interim coach Harlon Barnett explained the move to Houser.

“The reason to go to Katin? We just thought it was an opportunity for him,” explained Barnett. “We just thought it was a chance to change it up a little bit – not that it was all Noah’s fault or anything like that. But we thought it was an opportunity to change it up and give him an opportunity to show what he could do.”

It’s not a big surprise that Houser would enter the portal. Coming out of high school the California native was a four-star recruit out of powerhouse St. John Bosco. Houser held offers from several good schools on the west coast.

Houser will now explore his options as new coach Jonathan Smith gets settled into his new job in East Lansing.
