Kyle McCord has started the official opening of the transfer portal off with a bang.

The Ohio State quarterback has officially entered the transfer portal according to multiple reports. McCord waited two years behind current Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud before taking over the job in Columbus. He won a the quarterback battle this season over Devin Brown.

After winning the starting job McCord had 3,170 pass yards with 24 touchdown passes and six interceptions. He completed 65% of his passes. In a normal situation that’s a good season for a first-year starter but expectations are higher for Ryan Day and his program.

McCord also threw two interceptions against Michigan during Ohio State’s biggest game of the year. Day praised his toughness after the game.

"As time went on, Kyle got better as the season went on," Day said Sunday. "Had a little bit of those ankle injuries that he worked through, he showed toughness there. Certainly in the Notre Dame game, he played really well down the stretch. So I think there was growth there, for sure, and I think he's a good quarterback, I do. After every year, you evaluate everything, and try to figure out what to do next. But I think there was a lot of progress made this year."

As a recruit, McCord was a four-star prospect out of St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia.
