Texas freshman linebacker Trevell Johnson has requested to enter the transfer portal, effective April 15, he tells Rivals.
Johnson, who was a three-star prospect out of high school for Arlington (Texas) Martin, did not see any action as a true freshman in 2022 after sitting out his senior season in 2021 due to a hip injury.
Johnson was one of the more productive linebackers in the state of Texas during his junior season, as he accounted for 109 tackles, including 14 for loss, three forced fumbles and four sacks. He was featured alongside fellow Texas linebacker Morice Blackwell at Arlington Martin who has since moved to back to the secondary for the Longhorns.
During his recruiting process, Johnson took official visits to Texas and Texas Tech before choosing to head to Austin in Feb. 2021. He had offers from 18 programs at the conclusion of his recruitment.
At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Johnson was ranked as the No. 20 inside linebacker in the country for the class of 2022 and the No. 81 recruit from the state of Texas, according to Rivals.
