Texas OL Jaylen Garth enters the transfer portal

Texas made headlines last week by naming former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers its starting quarterback for the 2022 season. With just over a week before the Longhorns open the season against Louisiana-Monroe, Texas has seen a player enter the transfer portal.

Offensive lineman Jaylen Garth entered the portal on Tuesday. A former three-star prospect in the 2020 signing class, Garth has appeared in two games during his career with the Longhorns.

Listed at 6-5 and 306 pounds on the Texas roster, Garth redshirted during his initial season in Austin. He saw action against Rice and Texas Tech during the 2021 college football season.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood inked an impressive seven-man haul along the offensive line in the 2022 recruiting cycle, headlined by five-star Devon Campbell. The new faces have injected a ton of talent into the program and have provided a ton of competition in the trenches.

Ranked as the No. 40.offensive tackle in the 2020 class, Garth listed offers from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Utah out of high school.
