Western Kentucky quarterback Austin Reed announced he was withdrawing his name from the portal and will be returning to the Hilltoppers. Reed ranked second in passing yards this past season with 4,247 to go along with 36 touchdowns for Western Kentucky team that finished 8-5 during the regular season. The Hilltoppers were ranked 10th nationally in total offense. Reed was No. 62 in the overall Transfer Rankings and the 10th-best quarterback available before Tuesday's announcement.

Hot New Portal Entry:

Former Tulsa offensive lineman Dillon Wade entered the transfer portal on Tuesday after starting all 12 games at left tackle for the Golden Hurricane this past season. Power five programs instantly jumped at the chance to 6-foot-4, 290-pound talent as Auburn, Ole Miss, Missouri, TCU, Cal, Duke, Louisville, and Ohio State have already extended offers.

Level Up:

Former Texas State offensive lineman Kyle Hergel will get a chance to play power five football, announcing his commitment to Boston College on Tuesday. Hergel is coming off two solid seasons with the Bobcats, earning second-team, All-Sun Belt honors in 2021 and third-team honors this past season. Look for him to be a plug-and-play right guard for the Eagles next season.

SMU Continues to Stock Up:

SMU continued their flurry of transfer portal commitments on Tuesday, adding talented Fresno State cornerback Cale Sanders and veteran Missouri offensive lineman Hyrin White.

Sanders has an impressive resume during his two years with the Bulldogs, appearing in 26 games (13 starts) where he recorded 56 tackles, nine pass breakups, and one interception.

During his career at Missouri, White appeared in 30 games, making 13 starts primarily at right tackle.

So far, SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee and his staff have added eight pickups from the portal this month. Other additions include Charles Woods (CB, West Virginia), Jonathan McGill (S, Stanford), Jaylan Knighton (RB, Miami), Elijah Roberts (DL, Miami), and Jordan Miller (DL, Miami), and Key'Shawn Smith (WR, Miami).

FCS Spotlight:

Former Eastern Kentucky wide receiver Jayden Higgins has drawn quite a bit of power five interest since entering the transfer portal on December 6th. This past season, as a true sophomore, Higgins hauled in 58 catches for 757 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Higgins is listed at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, so coaches see the measurables and high-upside to succeed at the highest level. Higgins is coming off an official visit with Iowa State, he's also picked up offers from Mississippi State, Virginia, Minnesota, and Pitt.
