Transfer Tracker: Commits and their fits

The excitement over the NCAA transfer portal happens both when a player enters the portal and when a player exits the portal. Today we look at five players who committed to a new school and exited the portal this week and get insight on each from Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney.

DL- Kyler Baugh

2021 team: Houston Baptist

2022 team: Minnesota

"Minnesota's coaching staff definitely did their homework on Baugh as the former defensive lineman from Houston Baptist talked with coach PJ Fleck, defensive coordinator Joe Rossi and defensive line coach Brick Haley and Baugh's aspirations to play Power Five football led him to the Golden Gophers. There is a consistency to Baugh's game, he's going to make tackles, redirect running backs and be a powerful force in the middle for Minnesota's defensive front. SMU, Utah State, Western Kentucky and others were also involved."

WR – Tyler Harrell

2021 team: Louisville

2022 team: Alabama

"Harrell's stat lines during his time at Louisville are not that impressive and he only had significant production this past season but what the former three-star recruit from Miami (Fla.) Columbus is bringing to Tuscaloosa is electric speed. Harrell ran a 4.24 40-yard dash at Louisville's pro day in 2021 and the Alabama coaches are going to find ways to use that special ability in the Crimson Tide's offense. Some have argued that Jameson Williams didn't put up big stats until he got to Alabama from Ohio State and Harrell could play a similar role next season."

RB- Corey Kiner

2021 team: LSU

2022 team: Cincinnati

"Tyrion Davis-Price was the main running back at LSU last season but Kiner was second on the team in carries, rushing yards and touchdowns but a fresh start back home in Cincinnati could propel Kiner to even loftier heights. The former four-star has all the physical tools to be the lead dog in Cincinnati's backfield and take over for former Alabama transfer Jerome Ford, who carried the ball 214 times last season so the Bearcats have proven they want a workhorse at running back. Kiner completely fits that bill."

CB- Devonte Wilson

2021 team: Kansas

2022 team: FAMU

"Wilson was a three-star prospect out of Quincy, Fla., and at 6-foot-3 has a lot of potential and athleticism to be special on the field but he never got it clicking at Kansas so he decided to look for a fresh start. Thirty minutes down the road from his hometown is Florida A&M and while that program had a strong defense last season, someone with Power Five ability and that size, it's a no-brainer to add Wilson to your program. The idea here is that Wilson is more comfortable in a new setting and gets an opportunity to show what he can do."

WR- Zeriah Beason

2021 team: Oregon State

2022 team: Washington State

"Beason started his college career off at Oregon State in promising fashion and looked destined for a solid sophomore season but he ended up fifth on the Beavers in receiving as Trevon Bradford and Florida State transfer Tre'Shaun Harrison were the favorite targets on offense. The former three-star from Duncanville, Texas can now play inside or outside receiver at Washington State, become a bigger focal point in the Cougars' offense and he definitely has the playmaking ability to be a huge target as offensive coordinator Eric Morris calls plays in Pullman."
