West Virginia DB Saint McLeod enters transfer portal

West Virginia safety Saint McLeod entered his name into the transfer portal on Friday night. The news comes just ahead of the Mountaineers' matchup with Kansas on Saturday.

“I would like to thank West Virginia University for giving me the opportunity to play the sport that I love at a high level. I would also like to thank Coach Scott, Coach Mike and the whole training staff, my teammates, fans and most importantly the academic advisors for all of the support and love that I received," McLeod said on Twitter.

"Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for being by my side every step of the way. Despite that, I would like to announce that I am entering the transfer portal."

McLeod started two games as a freshman last season and played in six games. In that action, he made 22 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and forced a pair of fumbles.

The safety showcased some promise during his first year in Morgantown. However, he was a victim of a stabbing incident in March and had been away from the team for the last several months.

A three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle, McLeod is now looking for a new home.
