Taylen Green, a College Football News Freshman Second Team All-American, entered the transfer portal on December 4th: “I will be entering the transfer portal, but I am not closing the door on returning to Boise State”.

Through his 2023 campaign, Green played in 13 games, starting 12 contests, but saw his playing time dwindle in favor of Maddux Madsen. After Madsen went down with an injury, Green reclaimed the full-time role. Through 2023, Green completed 121 of his 212 passes for 1,752 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, while adding 434 yards and nine scores on the ground. In the Bronco’s Mountain West Championship Game, Green was able to lead his squad to victory and earn Offensive Player of the Game. He completed 12-of-15 passes for 226 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while posting 90 yards and two scores on the ground.

In 2022, Green earned All-America Second Team honors and Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors, ending the season with a Frisco Bowl victory and Offensive MVP nod. Green threw for 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns, along with six interceptions, while garnering 586 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. In 2021, he appeared in two games before redshirting as a freshman.

There is a chance Green returns, but he’ll continue his play under new head coach Spencer Danielson, who has been at Boise State since 2018, taking over the Broncos as the defensive coordinator in 2021. Danielson went 3-0 as the interim head coach after the firing of Andy Avalos.

The mobile threat accumulated 3,794 passing yards, 1,022 rushing yards, and 44 touchdowns (25 passing, 19 rushing) in two seasons. Green will garner a lot of attention in the portal.
