Clemson junior safety Andrew Mukuba entering portal

Clemson junior safety Andrew Mukuba has been a three-year starter for the Tigers, but is entering the transfer portal.

Mukuba is the fifth scholarship player to depart the Tigers, and second in the secondary, joining sophomore reserve cornerback Toriano Pride.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder started in all 10 games he played in this season and had 42 tackles, six passes defended and two tackles for loss.

Mukuba has 143 career tackles (90 solo), one interception, 17 passes defended and 4.5 tackles for loss in 35 career games (31 starts). He was a Freshman All-American in 2021 after having 47 tackles and seven passes defended. He became the first true freshman defensive back to start a season opener for Clemson since the NCAA instituted permanent freshman eligibility in 1972.

Rivals.com had Mukuba as a four-star prospect, who was No. 211 overall in the country, No. 32 in Texas and the No. 15 safety in the nation coming out of Austin (Texas) Lyndon B. Johnson High.
