Payton had seven tackles and a sack in the ACC title game win over Louisville last Saturday. He also had two sacks against both Florida and Wake Forest this season.

Payton had 31 tackles and five sacks his redshirt freshman year and was named the ACC Defensive Rookier of the Year.

Payton was a Rivals.com three-star prospect, who was the No. 26 outside linebacker in the country and the No. 66 overall player in Florida in the class of 2021.

Payton verbally committed to Nebraska, but then flipped to Florida State.
