Marcus Carroll, a running back out of Georgia State, entered the transfer portal on December 4th after four seasons with the Panthers: “After much prayer and consideration, I have come to the decision that I will be entering the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining”.
In 2023, Carroll ended up a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award and earned All-Sun Belt First Team recognition for his efforts through 12 games. Across 274 carries, Carroll put together 1,350 yards and 13 touchdowns, adding 234 receiving yards. His 1,350 yards led the Sun Belt and ranked at sixth in the nation, all while setting a school record with 13 touchdowns. Carroll is third in school history with 2,136 career yards.
Prior to his break-out 2023 season, in 2022, Carroll was able to rush for 622 yards and six touchdowns. Between 2020 and 2021, Carroll combined for 164 yards and two touchdowns on 50 carries in 17 games.
As a top-ten running back, Carroll will accrue a lot of Power Five attention, especially those looking to replace NFL-bound ball carriers.
