Texas pulled one of the top defensive backs out of the transfer portal Monday, receiving a commitment from Clemson safety Andrew Mukuba. After starting the past three seasons for the Tigers, the Austin, Texas native will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Longhorns.

Despite playing in just 10 games this season, Mukuba is tied for Clemson’s team lead with six pass breakups. He’s also recorded 42 stops, including two tackles for a loss. According to Pro Football Focus, Mukuba has held opposing passers to a 62.9 NFL passer rating, allowing just 18 receptions on 34 balls thrown his way.

Mukuba has started 31 of the 35 games he appeared in for Clemson over the past three years. The junior has 143 tackles, and 16 pass deflections in his career.

Mukuba is the No. 13 overall player in Rivals’ Transfer Tracker. He ranks as the No. 2 defensive back behind Georgia’s A.J. Harris. Mukuba signed with Clemson as a three-star recruit in the 2021 class.
