Auburn and Oklahoma State were also in the mix during Armstrong’s portal recruitment.

Armstrong arrives in Raleigh after posting prolific numbers in Charlottesville. He threw for 9,034 yards and 58 touchdowns during his career at UVA. Armstrong also rushed for 1,267 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Despite Virginia finishing with a 6-6 record in 2021, Armstrong had his strongest season under Anae’s tutelage. Armstrong set program records in completions (326) passing yards (4,449) and touchdowns (31). Armstrong’s 4,449 yards passing was the fourth-highest single-season total in ACC history. He left UVA owning the three highest single-game yardage totals in program history.
