FCS All-American and Buck Buchanan Award finalist Darius Joiner announced his commitment to Duke Friday.
After entering the portal in February as a graduate transfer, the Western Illinois safety picked up serious interest from Kansas, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Texas among other programs. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder finished the 2021 season with 142 tackles, 7 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 FF, 1 INT and 5 PD.
Joiner began his college career at Jacksonville State, redshirting in 2017 before switching to safety and starting one game in 2018. He had 27 tackles and one interception that season. When Joiner transferred to Western Illinois he turned himself into one of the top players in the nation.
