Washington safety Peyton Waters has entered the transfer portal, continuing a trend in the Huskies program as a result of their recent coaching change.

Waters committed to Washington as part of their 2024 class out of Birmingham High School in Lake Balboa, California. Rivals rated him as a 4-star recruit with a 5.8 Rivals rating and listed him as a wide receiver, though he played both ways in high school. On Washington’s 2024 roster, Waters was listed as a safety.
Given how he was rated out of high school, Waters should be able to command some attention in the transfer portal. Arizona, Boston College, Cal, Northwestern, Oregon, Stanford, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Utah, and Washington State all offered him out of high school. As far as which schools he visited, according to our records he took visits to UCLA, Stanford, and Northwestern in addition to Washington. So those are schools that might be most interested in him now that he's available.
One thing to look for with Waters will be what position he’s looking to play and/or how a team wants to use him. He was highly touted as both a defensive back and wide receiver in high school, so a move to offense shouldn’t be ruled out. I’ll be curious to see where he ends up and also whether he ends up sticking on defense or switching to offense.
