Kalen DeBoer got a much-needed depth boost for next season in the defensive trenches on Tuesday night, scoring a commitment from former Florida defensive lineman Kelby Collins. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder will have two years of eligibility in Tuscaloosa.
Collins is originally from Gardendale, Alabama; he picked the Gators over the home team, Georgia, South Carolina and Oklahoma in 2023 as a four-star prospect who checked in at No. 52 overall in the Rivals 100.
Collins burst onto the scene in year one, earning SEC All-Freshman honors after racking up 23 tackles, including two for loss and 1.5 sacks. In six games this season, Collins had six tackles for the Gators.
His addition to the lineup could be imperative with the potential to lose multiple seniors to the NFL Draft next season.
