Nebraska wide receiver Malachi Coleman intends to enter the transfer portal, according to Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule. Coleman has been with the Cornhuskers for two seasons but is expected to used his redshirt this season. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining.
During his freshman year with Nebraska, Coleman started six games and played in a total of 11. He scored once and hauled in eight catches for 139 yards. This year he's only played in one game and is expected to redshirt.
Getting Coleman's signature was the first big recruiting win for head coach Matt Rhule. Coleman finished the 2023 rankings cycle at No. 60 in the Rivals250. At the time of his signing with the Cornhuskers, he was the fifth highest ranked prospect Nebraska had ever landed. The high school version of Coleman was 6-foot-5, 196-pounds and posted times of 4.4-seconds in the 40-yard dash and 10.46-seconds in the 100-meter dash along with a vertical that measured over 40 inches.
Before signing with Nebraska, Coleman was seriously considering Colorado and did take an official visit to Boulder. Michigan, Syracuse, and Louisville were also involved.
