After losing kicker Mateen Bhaghani to the transfer portal (he committed to UCLA), the California Golden Bears went out and landed a kicker via the transfer portal in North Carolina graduate transfer Ryan Coe. Coe started out at Delaware, committing to the Blue Hens as part of their 2019 class. Coe then transferred to Cincinnati for the 2022 season before then transferring the North Carolina for the 2023 season. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
For his career, Coe has gone 48-61 on his field goals and made all 99 of his extra points. He has a career long of 54 yards and set Delaware’s program record for field goal accuracy. To say the least, he’s a really good kicker.
Considering that they lost Bhaghani, Cal came up with a nice save here by adding Coe. Coe should be the favorite to win the starting job over Michael Luckhurst, who went 3-9 from the field this past season. If he delivers the goods, Coe could end up having a big impact on this Bears program in 2024.
