In 2023, McCall passed for 1,919 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions, along with 48 rushing yards and a single rushing score. McCall went down with an injury on October 21 this season and hadn’t seen the field since. Prior to the start of the season, McCall was flooded with preseason accolades: Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Sun Belt, watchlists for the Manning Award, Walter Camp, Davey O’Brien Award, Maxwell Award, and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. McCall was also listed on the Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List and East-West Shrine Bowl 1,000.

Prior to 2023, McCall was the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. In his Chanticleers career, McCall has totalled 10,005 passing yards, 88 passing touchdowns, and 14 interceptions attached to a 70% completion rate. As a rusher, McCall has accumulated 1,113 yards and 18 touchdowns. McCall is the only three-time player of the year in Sun Belt history, and his 106 total touchdowns and 88 passing touchdowns are both program records.

McCall entered the transfer portal before the start of the 2023 season, but ultimately returned to the Chanticleers. He received interest from Auburn most notably, but his visit was canceled, citing academic issues. Now, McCall will hunt for his next home as a graduate transfer.
