Colorado adds WR Will Sheppard from Vanderbilt

The Colorado Buffaloes have added a really nice player from the transfer portal in former Vanderbilt wide receiver Will Sheppard. During his four years with the Commodores, Sheppard played in 42 games, totaling 152 receptions, 2067 receiving yards, and 21 touchdowns for a 13.6 yards per reception average. This past season as a senior, he played in 12 games, totaling 47 receptions, 684 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns for a 14.6 yards per reception average.

If the Buffaloes were looking to add another weapon to their offense, they definitely added one in Sheppard. At 6’3”, 190 he has good hands, speed, and quickness. He does a good job of shaking defenders to get some space and also is really good at absorbing contact to secure receptions in traffic. Not a super explosive receiver, but very consistent and durable. He’s a guy who you know is taking good care of his body.

Sheppard committed to Vanderbilt as a 3-star recruit with a 5.5 Rivals rating as part of their 2020 class. Entering Colorado, he is rated as a 3-star transfer with a 5.6 Rivals rating. While those ratings aren’t super exciting, his body of work speaks for itself. I think he’s got a chance to be a really nice player and make his presence felt in Boulder. The Buffs should be excited to have him.
