Following four seasons in Boulder, Colorado junior linebacker Marvin Ham II has entered the transfer portal. During his career with the Buffaloes, Ham played in 32 games totaling 65 tackles (43 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and one pass deflection. This past season, he played in 11 games, having his best season in a Buffs uniform: 36 total tackles (24 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and the lone pass deflection of his career.
Ham came to Colorado as a 3-star linebacker with a 5.6 Rivals rating in the class of 2019. He played at Belleville High School in Belleville, Michigan. In addition to Colorado, he held offers from Boston College and Iowa State along with several mid-major programs. He also received interest from other power five programs as well like Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, and a few others.
Given that he’s coming off his best season, his portal stock should be relatively high for anyone looking to add a linebacker to their defense. He played on the inside, so anyone looking to address that need should give him a look.
In addition to Ham, Colorado sophomore tight end Caleb Fauria has entered the transfer portal following four seasons in Boulder. How a kid who has played four seasons is still considered a sophomore? I’m not entirely sure even if I try to do the COVID math. Anyways, Fauria played in 13 games over the course of his time in Boulder in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He had three receptions for 23 yards, all in the 2022 season. So, he wasn’t all that productive.
Fauria committed to Colorado as a 3-star recruit with a 5.5 Rivals rating. He played at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA. He chose Colorado while also holding offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Iowa, LSU, Louisville, and others.
What makes Fauria transferring out of Colorado particularly noteworthy is that his father Christian Fauria played at Colorado from 1991-94 and is still the program’s third all-time leading receiver as a tight end: 98 receptions for 1,058 yards and 11 touchdowns. To lose the son of an all-time Colorado great makes for a spicy story. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is looking to make upgrades to his program via the transfer portal all the while not being afraid to tell guys they need to leave if they aren’t getting it done.
Given his lack of production, I’m not really sure where Fauria goes. I’m sure someone will take him, but he may end up having to go to a mid-major program.
