Loftus went 91-of-163 passing for 1,006 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions in 2024, taking over the position over the last five games (going 3-2). He threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for a score in a 30-27 loss at Virginia on Nov. 18, 2023.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Loftis was a Rivals.com three-star prospect coming out of Gaffney (S.C.) High, and was the No. 9 overall player in South Carolina in the class of 2023. He picked Duke over offers from Appalachian State, Georgia, Kentucky, West Virginia and Marshall.

Loftis threw for 6,965 passing yards and 55 touchdowns his last three years at Gaffney High, including winning the 2021 state titel.
