Florida continued to strengthen its defense through the transfer portal Monday as it received a commitment from Oregon defensive back Trikweze Bridges. The fifth-year junior will have one year of eligibility remaining for the Gators.

Serving as a backup cornerback this season, Bridges recorded three pass breakups and 16 tackles over 13 games. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound defensive back served as a starter last year, tallying three interceptions, five pass breakups and a forced fumble to go with 49 stops.

Bridges’ commitment comes a day after the Gators landed Penn defensive lineman Joey Slackman out of the transfer portal. Slackman is the No. 12 player in the Rivals Transfer Tracker.

Bridges, a Lanett Alabama native, signed with Oregon as the No. 26 overall player in the 2019 class.
