Florida TE Nick Elksnis to enter the portal

Florida Tight End Nick Elksnis announced his intent to transfer from Florida in a Tuesday Tweet. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The redshirt freshman out of Episcopal (Jacksonville, Fla.) became the sixth Gator to decide to leave the swamp. He was ranked the No. 22 TE in the class of 2021. Elksnis saw action primarily on special teams in each of the first-five games of the season. In 2021 he appeared in four games and redshirted.

He suffered a shoulder injury during spring practice causing him to miss valuable practice time but was back on the field for fall camp.

Elksnis originally committed to Penn State in July 2019 before flipping to Florida eight months later. He also held offers from Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, Michigan and several other power five programs.
