Zach Calzada is on the move again. After entering the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 5, the former Texas A&M and Auburn quarterback committed to Incarnate Word on Wednesday afternoon.

Calzada joined Auburn last offseason but did not see any action as he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in September. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at Incarnate Word.

Calzada rose to prominence in 2021 when he took over as the starter at Texas A&M, starting 10 games while throwing for 2,185 yards and 17 touchdowns with nine interceptions. His best game that season came during the Aggies’ 41-38 upset of Alabama when he completed 21 of 31 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns with an interception.

Calzada is a former three-star recruit and was ranked as the No. 13 quarterback in the 2019 class. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound passer is expected to take over the starting quarterback position for Incarnate Word, which went 12-2 and advanced to the semifinals of the FCS playoffs this past season.
