A day after entering the transfer portal, Walker Howard has found his new home in a familiar setting, committing to Louisiana on Tuesday to play for Michael Desormeaux.
Howard, a former five-star prospect in the Rivals 100 for 2022, originally signed with LSU then after one season transferred to Ole Miss where he spent two seasons.
Now, the Lafayette native is back home with the Ragin’ Cajuns with two years of eligibility remaining.
Howard, who has already enrolled for the spring semester, becomes the first quarterback in this portal cycle to pledge his allegiance to a new school.
Howard has yet to see significant time under center at the college level.
At LSU he didn’t have a chance playing behind eventual Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. Howard completed two passes for seven yards and had six carries for 33 yards as a freshman.
At Ole Miss, he went 3 of 4 for 56 yards in year one and this past season, Howard played just two games but didn’t complete any passes.
Walker had a legendary high school career, leading St. Thomas More to two state titles as a sophomore and junior and throwing for nearly 7,000 yards and 67 touchdowns during his reign.
