Mike Norvell got a much-needed boost to his defensive secondary, landing former Houston defensive back Jeremiah Wilson. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound visited the Seminoles on Thursday and will have on year of eligibility remaining at Florida State with a redshirt option if needed.
It certainly helped the Noles’ cause that Wilson played for Florida State defensive coordinator Tony White for one (2022) of his two seasons at Syracuse.
Last year at Houston, Wilson established himself as one of the most feared defensive backs patrolling the secondary, posting 24 tackles, 3.5 for loss, four interceptions and eight passes defended.
Pro Football Focus gave Wilson Houston’s highest defensive grade and the highest coverage grade last season.
Securing Wilson should help a defensive secondary that ranked last in the ACC in interceptions last season with just four.
