Former Liberty and Tennessee quarterback Kaidon Salter will be moving on to the third school in his career, as he committed to Colorado on Wednesday.
Salter began his career at Tennessee in 2021 and went through spring workouts with the Volunteers before transferring to Liberty that same year. He spent four seasons with the Flames, playing two years under head coach Hugh Freeze and two years under head coach Jamey Chadwell.
Salter will have one year of college eligibility remaining. He is choosing to spend that final season in Boulder with head coach Deion Sanders, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Pat Shurmur and the Buffaloes.
Current Colorado starter Shedeur Sanders is expected to be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, so the Buffaloes were in need of a veteran quarterback. Colorado will also bring in class of 2025 five-star quarterback Julian Lewis next season.
Salter started 11 games for the Flames in 2024. He completed 147 out of 261 passing attempts (56%) for 1,886 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed 114 times for 587 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns.
According to Pro Football Focus, Salter played 766 offensive snaps in 2024. He recorded an offensive grade of 82.4, which was the second-highest mark for Liberty players this season.
In 35 career games, Salter completed 412 out of 702 attempts (59%) for 5,887 yards, 56 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He added 352 rushing attempts for 2,063 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns on the ground.
Salter was a four-star dual-threat quarterback prospect out of Cedar Hill High School in Texas in the class of 2021.
