Former Miami safety Avantae Williams heading to Maryland

Former Miami (Fla.) safety Avantae Williams announced his commitment to Maryland on Tuesday, he is currently the 38th-ranked player in the Rivals Transfer Rankings.

Throughout his two seasons with the Hurricanes, Williams tallied 27 tackles and one fumble recovery. This past season, Williams was lightly used, recording just nine tackles.

Coming out of Deland (Fla.) high school in the 2020 class, Williams was ranked the No. 40 prospect in the country and No. 1 safety overall.

Now, Williams will get a fresh start with Mike Locksley and the Terrapins.
