Oklahoma took the first step to revamping its offensive line for next season, receiving a commitment from Michigan State transfer Spencer Brown on Wednesday night. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound graduate transfer has one season of eligibility remaining.

Brown served as Michigan State’s starting right tackle the past two seasons. He made 11 starts over 12 appearances this season, earning a 63.7 pass-blocking grade while allowing 3 sacks and 18 pressures over 312 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. The scouting service also gave him a 60.7 run-blocking mark.

Oklahoma will have to reshape its offensive line this offseason, as it is set to lose starting tackles Walter Rouse and Tyler Guyton as well as starting right guard McKade Mettauer to the NFL. The Sooners also saw Savion Byrd and Nate Anderson enter the transfer portal this week.

Look for Oklahoma to continue to try to add to its offensive front through the portal. For now, it’s off to a solid start with Brown.
