Tennessee and UCLA has completed a quarterback trade.
Former Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava officially transferred to UCLA on Sunday and today Joey Aguilar transferred from the Bruins to Tennessee.
Aguilar had transferred from Appalachian State to UCLA this past December.

Aguilar, who threw for 6,760 yards, 56 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in 25 games for Appalachian State, left Appalachian State after they made a coaching change in December.
This past season Aguilar went completed 218-of-390 passed for 3,003 yards, 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also posted 59 carries for 207 yards and two more scores. After the season, Aguilar was named honorable mention All-Sun Belt.
Aguilar is walking into a very thin quarterback room at Tennessee. The only other quarterbacks on the roster are George MacIntyre and Jake Merklinger. Aguilar is expected to have the opportunity to compete for the starting job.
Aguilar is the first quarterback Tennessee has taken out of the transfer portal this cycle but the Vols may not be done trying to add more arms this spring.

The winter college football transfer portal window opened on December 9th, 2024 for 20 days. There was also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team finished postseason play. Additionally, players get a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves.
