Georgia inside linebacker Troy Bowles intends to enter the transfer portal, Rivals and UGASports.com have confirmed.
Bowles has played for head coach Kirby Smart, co-defensive coordinator/inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann and the Bulldogs for two years in 2023 and 2024.
He played in five games as a true freshman in 2023 and totaled five tackles. He recorded a career-high three tackles against the University of Tennessee at Martin on Sept. 2, 2023.
However, Bowles made just two appearances in 2024, giving him the opportunity to use the season as a redshirt. He only played 12 defensive snaps this season, and recorded a defensive grade of 67.9, according to Pro Football Focus. He also saw one snap on special teams. Bowles did not record a state in 2024.
He will have up to three years of eligibility left.
Bowles was a four-star prospect out of Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida in the class of 2023. He ranked as the No. 7 inside linebacker, No. 22 recruit in the state of Florida and No. 86 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle.
Todd Bowles, the head coach of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is Troy’s father.
