Brent Key added a necessary weapon to his aerial attack for next season, landing former FIU wide receiver Eric Rivers on Wednesday night. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound speedster will have just one year of eligibility remaining.
The Yellow Jackets needed Rivers bad after losing a host of receivers to the transfer portal and eligibility exhaustion. He’s expected to come in and fill that void immediately, and he’s got the numbers to prove that he can.
This season, Rivers racked up a whopping 1,172 yards on 62 catches and scored 12 touchdowns. That could upgrade an offense that ranked No. 9 in the ACC, posting 2,884 passing yards this season.
Rivers picked the Yellow Jackets over Miami and Nebraska, among others.
