Georgia Tech quarterback Jeff Sims announced his intent to enter the transfer portal.
A three-year starter Sims started the Yellow Jackets first seven games this season but suffered an injury against Virginia (Oct. 20) and did not return to the game. Sims did not appear in the Yellow Jackets loss at Miami (Nov. 12) despite being medically cleared to play.
Georgia Tech lost to Miami 35-14 and Sims has decided to move on.
The former four-star recruit out of Sandalwood (Jacksonville, Fla.) chose Georgia Tech over offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Penn State and Virginia Tech.
Sims has battled injuries during his three seasons in Atlanta. Georgia Tech fired head coach Geoff Collins in September and Smith will look for a fresh start elsewhere.
Sims has two years of eligibility remaining, including the ‘COVID season’ and should garner significant attention in the transfer portal.
