Holy Cross QB Matthew Sluka enters transfer portal

Holy Cross quarterback Matthew Sluka has entered the transfer portal.

In 2023, the team captain totaled 1,728 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and five interceptions - along with 1,247 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns - to lead Holy Cross to a 7-4 record and 5-1 Patriot League record. The First-Team All-Patriot League passer landed All-Patriot League honors for the third straight season in 2023.

In 2022, Sluka earned several honors, including team MVP, First-Team All-Patriot League, Walter Payton Award Finalist and All New England. As a junior, through 13 games started, Sluka posted 2,489 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, four interceptions, 1,234 rushing yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns. Holy Cross finished 12-1, including 6-0 in conference play, falling to #1 South Dakota State in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Now, the quarterback will test the transfer portal, and will be a graduate transfer wherever he lands. The dual-threat is likely to garner a lot of attention in the coming weeks.

Sluka's highlights: 2023 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. Two-Time Walter Payton Award Finalist (2022, 2023). 4,217 passing yards, 2,481 rushing yards, and 66 combined touchdowns.
