Willie Fritz’s defensive secondary took a major blow on Saturday with Houston star defensive back A.J. Haulcy planning to enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot, 215-pound athlete will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
Haulcy had started every game for the Cougars over the last two seasons and dominate the defensive airways in the league this season, tying for first in interceptions with five and finished second in pass breakups with 13.
Haulcy was also second on the team in tackles, racking up 74.
This marks the second transfer for Haulcy who began his collegiate career with New Mexico where he amassed 87 total tackles as a true freshman. That year he posted 24 tackles in one game against Fresno State.
