Houston defensive back Jeremiah Wilson intends to enter the transfer portal, he tells Rivals.com.
Wilson played one season in Houston under head coach Willie Fritz in in 2024. Prior to that, he played for Syracuse and head coach Dino Babers in 2022 and 2023.
Wilson is expected to have one year of eligibility remaining, with a redshirt option still available if needed as well.
Wilson played in all 12 games for the Cougars in 2024, including starts in the final eight games. He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and eight passes defended on the campaign. He also recorded a pick-six versus Baylor. Wilson was a Dave Campbell's Texas Football first-team defense selection on the year.
According to Pro Football Focus, Wilson played 557 defensive snaps in 2024, with the majority of those snaps coming at the wide cornerback alignment. He also played 71 snaps on special teams.
According to PFF, Wilson had the highest defensive grade on Houston's team (86.9) and the highest coverage grade (87.8) in 2024. His 86.9 defensive grade ranked fourth among Power Four cornerbacks, and paced all Big 12 cornerbacks. Meanwhile, his 87.8 coverage grade ranked seventh among Power Four cornerbacks and second among Big 12 cornerbacks.
In 22 career games at Syracuse, Wilson amassed 37 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception and six passes defended.
Wilson was a three-star cornerback prospect out of Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida in the class of 2022.
