Kentucky DL Keeshawn Silver announces intention to enter transfer portal

Kentucky junior defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday.

Silver spent the past two seasons with the Wildcats after playing for North Carolina in 2021 and 2022.

In 12 games in 2024, the 6-foot-4, 336-pound Silver recorded 26 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack.

According to Pro Football Focus, Silver played 313 defensive snaps for Kentucky in 2024, and recorded 23 special teams snaps as well. He recorded an overall defensive grade of 63.0, and a team-high tackling grade of 80.9.

In 31 career games played with the Wildcats and Tar Heels, Silver has amassed 47 total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack.

Silver was a highly-ranked recruit coming out of Rocky Mount High School in North Carolina in the 2021 class. He was a four-star strong-side defensive end prospect and ranked as the No. 88 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle. He also ranked as the No. 5 player in the state of North Carolina and as the No. 7 prospect at his position.

He received nearly 30 scholarship offers during his high school recruitment, but he committed to the Tar Heels in March of 2020 and signed with UNC in December of 2020.

The winter college football transfer portal window is scheduled to open on Dec. 9, 2024 for 20 days. Additionally, players have a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves. There is also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team has finished postseason play. A 10-day transfer window will open on April 16 as well.
