Liberty QB Kaidon Salter Withdraws From Transfer Portal

Kaidon Salter, a quarterback out of Liberty, officially entered the transfer portal on January 4th before withdrawing to return to the Flames for 2024. Salter joined the Flames program in 2021 out of Tennessee. Since joining the team, Salter has played in 24 games, starting 18 contests, including all 14 in 2023.

The sophomore came out and dominated in his 2023 campaign under new head coach Jamey Chadwell. In the air, Salter completed 177 of his 290 passes (61%) for 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns, and six interceptions. On the ground, Salter rushed for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns on 163 attempts.


By the end of the season, Salter was awarded as the 2023 Conference USA Most Valuable Player, adding First Team All-C-USA honors to his accolades. Leading Liberty to a 13-0 regular season, Salter struck down New Mexico State in the C-USA Championship Game, throwing for 319 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 165 yards and a score. He was named the C-USA Championship MVP.


In 2022, Salter played in eight games, starting four of them. He threw for 1,086 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions, while rushing for 334 yards and two touchdowns.


The Conference USA MVP likely to garnered mounds of attention, especially after leading the Flames to a New Year’s Six bowl game appearance, but it looks like he and Chadwell intend to run it back.
