Louisville announced on Saturday morning that safety Devin Neal is no longer with the program. The standout defender is expected to enter the transfer portal.

Neal, who was named third team All-ACC last season, played three seasons at Baylor before transferring to Louisville prior to the 2023 season. He'll redshirt the remainder of this season and have one season of eligibility remaining.

Neal was a class of 2020 prospect who signed with Baylor out of high school. He played sparingly during the 2020 COVID season, registering just one tackle.

In 2021 Neal started to breakout. He played in 13 games making 20 tackles and forcing one fumble. The following year he played in 11 games and started seven of them, finishing the year with 33 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, and one pass breakup.

Neal transferred to Louisville after that season and had the best season of his college career. In 2023 Neal played in 14 games starting all but one and finished second on the team in tackles, first on the team with four interceptions, and broke up three passes according to PFF.

This season has been a different story for Neal. He played in just four games with no starts and is credited with just four tackles.
