LSU scores commitment from Miss State QB transfer Michael Van Buren

Former Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren has found a new home in Baton Rouge. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect will have three years of eligibility remaining at LSU.

This season, as a true freshman, Van Buren started eight games and threw for 1,886 yards and 16 total touchdowns. He completed 55 percent of his passes.

Still, the Bulldogs were the SEC bottom dwellers, finishing 0-8 in the conference and 2-10 overall.

Van Buren will have a tough act to follow, the Tigers ranked second in the SEC in passing yards with 3,784 and 26 touchdowns.

In 2023, Van Buren committed to Mississippi State as a four-star prospect in the Rivals 100.

The winter college football transfer portal window is scheduled to open on December 9th, 2024 for 20 days. Additionally, players have a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves. There is also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team has finished postseason play. A 10-day transfer window will open on April 16th as well.
