Georgia sophomore nose tackle Jamaal Jarrett was once thought to be an offensive line prospect at Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley.
Georgia quickly targeted the 6-foot-5, 350-pounder for the nose tackle position with the hopes he could be the next Jordan Davis, who played offensive line at Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek and then blossomed into a first-round NFL Draft pick at Georgia on the defensive line.
Jarrett still has time to blossom, but he’s aiming to enter the transfer portal. He played in five games his first year in 2023, and then had three tackles in 11 games played this season.
Jarrett was a Rivals.com four-star prospect, who was ranked No. 68 overall in the country, No. 2 in North Carolina and No. 7 at defensive tackle nationally in the class of 2023.
Jarrett picked Georgia over North Carolina and Auburn, and he also considered Texas A&M, Clemson, NC State and LSU, among others.
Jarrett’s former defensive line teammate at Grimsley, North Carolina junior defensive tackle Travis Shaw has also entered the transfer market.
