Michigan sophomore linebacker Jason Hewlett will continue his college career at Boston College.
The 6-foot-2, 227-pounder barely played at Michigan and had three tackles this past season, mostly playing on special teams (nine games). Hewlett was named Michigan’s most improved player on special teams for his effort. He redshirted in 2023.
Hewlett was a Rivals.com three-star prospect in the class of 2023 coming out of Youngstown (Ohio) Chaney High. He was ranked No. 24 overall in Ohio and the No. 34 athlete nationally in the class.
Hewlett helped Chaney go 10-2 his senior year, and he had 59 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. He also caught 14 passes for 317 yards and three scores, and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Hewlett bounced back after having a season-ending injury his junior year.
Hewlett originally committed to Cincinnati, but flipped to Michigan on Nov. 28, 2022. He also had offers from Boston College, Kentucky, NC State, Toledo, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others.
