Freshman quarterback Marcos Davila might not have planned to stay in the Big Ten, but that is how it worked out.

Davila picked Purdue in the class of 2024, and after the firing of coach Ryan Walters, he has settled on transferring to Nebraska, where he’ll be the backup to fellow freshman Dylan Raiola, who threw for 2,595 yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season for the 6-6 Cornhuskers.

The 6-foot-3, 233-pound Davila was a Rivals.com three-star prospect, who was ranked No. 96 overall in Texas and No. 30 pro-style quarterback nationally in the class of 2024 coming out of Midland (Texas) Legacy High. He threw for 3,303 yards and 30 touchdowns his senior year and was a three-year starter at Legacy High.

Davila chose Purdue over Texas Christian, West Virginia, Colorado, Miami (Fla.), Texas A&M and others. He had at least 22 scholarship offers.
