Roughly a month after transferring from Texas Tech to Texas A&M, Micah Hudson has stepped away from team activities. The 6-foot, 196-speedster, thought to be the prize among wide receivers in the 2025 portal cycle, came to College Station with three years of eligibility remaining.

The reason for Hudson’s step back was not immediately known.

That’s a tough blow for the Aggies to say the least since the buzz around his arrival was deafening as the No. 6 overall prospect in the Rivals Portal Rankings, joining a receiver core next season that included Kevin Concepcion, Jonah Wilson and Mario Craver.

Hudson had a similar buzz out of high school as the No. 9 overall prospect in the Top 100 in 2024, but the hype never materialized into production in his first year, posting just 123 yards on eight receptions.

Still, the table was set to feature Hudson with massive depletions at receiver for the Aggies, including Noah Thomas, Jabre Barber and Jahdae Walker, who combined for more than 1,200 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
