Now that the Notre Dame football season is over, ending with a 45-38 victory over South Carolina in the 78th-annual Gator Bowl, Fighting Irish fans turn their full attention to transfer portal quarterback Sam Hartman.

Hartman, the No. 20 ranked player in the Rivals Portal Rankings and No. 2 ranked available QB, entered the NCAA transfer portal Tuesday and the Notre Dame speculation began almost immediately.

The longtime Wake Forest starter holds the Atlantic Coast Conference record for career touchdown passes (110) and ranks second in ACC history with 12,967 career passing yards. Hartman completed a career-best 63 percent of his passes this season for 3,701 yards and 38 touchdowns. Hartman was also named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. His second-straight bowl game MVP honor.
