Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli is heading for the transfer portal.

The New Jersey native has two more seasons of eligibility remaining.

Angeli had multiple strong performances in relief of Riley Leonard this past season, including finishing out the first half of the Orange Bowl against Penn State. He went six-for-seven passing with 44 yards through the air setting up the Fighting Irish for a field goal before halftime.

This offseason Angeli had been competing with CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey for the starting quarterback job. He is seemingly bowing out of that race.

Angeli was a three-star quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class and signed with Notre Dame over teams like Penn State, LSU, Oregon, and Stanford.

The winter college football transfer portal window opened on December 9th, 2024 for 20 days. There was also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team finished postseason play. Additionally, players get a 30-day window to transfer when their head coach leaves.
